Sole Pursuit Running

Sole Pursuit Running is all about creating unforgettable running experiences, from ultra-distance trail races to fun and quirky group run challenges. Based in Kamloops, BC, the organization is home to Walk in the Park, an ultra-trail race set in the rugged beauty of Kenna Cartwright Park, as well as seasonal challenges like TIS (This Is Stupid) the Season Run and Tainted Love—all designed to bring runners together for adventure, challenge, and camaraderie.

At the heart of Sole Pursuit Running are Clint and Paula Sword, the dynamic duo dedicated to fostering a vibrant running community. Clint thrives on extreme endurance races, tackling distances from 50K to 200 miles, where every step is a journey through nature’s wildest landscapes. Paula, on the other hand, prefers destination road races with friends—especially ones that come with great bling. When she’s not racing, you’ll likely find her supporting Clint from the sidelines or setting up an aid station to help him power through his next ultra.

As the current race directors of Walk in the Park, Clint and Paula bring their unique perspectives to this long standing Kamloops event, ensuring every runner—from first-timers to seasoned ultra-athletes—has an experience to remember. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply out for the love of the run, Sole Pursuit Running is here to inspire, challenge, and celebrate every step of your journey.

Dirty Feet Trail Series

Dirty Feet Trail Series was established in 2010 by Phil and Grace Hiom, who are dedicated to fostering a sense of community and inclusivity through family-oriented trail races in the Thompson Okanagan Region. The series initially featured 5km, 10km, and 21km races as part of its vision. Over the years, Dirty Feet has adapted and grown alongside the trail running community, now offering races that range from 5km to over 100km. Additionally, Dirty Feet hosts two charity events each year: Run 4 Ice Cream in July and Run 4 Donuts in October, both of which benefit our Local Food Bank. To encourage even more participation, Dirty Feet provides a complimentary weekly run every Tuesday night throughout the year for those interested in exploring the local trails in Kamloops.
Phil and Grace Hiom have been passionate endurance athletes for over 25 years, beginning their racing journey in the early 2000s with 36-hour to 3-day adventure races across Alberta and British Columbia. As adventure racing began to fade away, they shifted their focus to 24-hour endurance mountain bike racing before moving to Kamloops in 2010 and launching the Dirty Feet Trail Series. By 2012, they embraced ultra trail racing as their next significant challenge. Throughout the past decade, they have participated in races across Western Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Western United States, often tackling distances from 100km to 100 miles.
Dirty Feet Run Crew: In 2014, Phil and Grace and a few friends started the Run Crew! This weekly running group provides a safe, inclusive trail running environment to explore the trails. After 11 successful years, the free weekly run continues to thrive, attracting between 15 to 50 participants each week. To accommodate various paces, we offer two different groups. The locations for our weekly runs are shared on our Facebook and Instagram pages each week, ensuring everyone can join in!
